G7
G7 is an improved device-independent method for matching color. It’s all about calibrating printing presses and proofing systems with the goal of repeatable, consistent color and images from proof to press. The G7 specification is managed by IDEAlliance®, and its biggest breakthrough is its emphasis on gray balance “target values” to monitor and control color. G7 specifies the components of an image that define a similar “visual appearance” to the human eye, so color will look similar even on different imaging systems.
G7 is the method one uses to obtain the goals and specifications required in GRACoL (General Requirements for Applications in Commercial offset Lithography). GRACoL is a comprehensive set of guidelines for planning and processing work for printers.
