On Wednesday May 13th – at about 12:30PM our President, Larry Miles, had a chance meeting with the owner of Paladin Media Group, Kent Williamson.  Kent is on the Board of the new Valley Baseball League baseball team in Charlottesville, Virginia, the Tom Sox.  Knowing Kent was on the Tom Sox Board, Larry relayed an idea he’d recently come across for a promotion he called “First Pitch”.  Kent took the idea to the Tom Sox Board, (who loved it) and they decided to move forward with the promotion.

First week of June, 2015 – Kent, Larry, and Rick (senior designer at McClung Companies) collaborated together on a template for the “First Pitch” promotion.  (That means Rick designed it!)
(check out the other side to see it!)

June 9 – 7:00PM – The “First Pitch” of the Charlottesville Tom Sox’s Home opener crossed the plate and the moment was captured from 4 separate vantage points, by four different photographers from the Charlottesville community who were “crowd-sourced” from a Facebook post several weeks earlier by Kent Williamson.
7:09PM – files from each of the four photos were uploaded to the “cloud”
7:10PM – photos were downloaded at McClung Companies headquarters by Rick into the pre-approved template.  Rick (with Larry calmly watching over his shoulder) then color corrected the files and sent them to the digital pressroom for variable data processing.
7:24PM – Michael Miller (with Larry calmly watching over his shoulder) then applied the variable data processing and fonts to the file.  Next he sent the files to McClung’s Kodak Nexpress 2100 plus.
7:33PM – The first of the 1000 numbered prints of the “Tom Sox 2015 First Pitch” poster rolled off the press.
8:28PM – Larry (along with his wife and 3 kids who came along to watch the whole thing) loaded the posters into his car in Waynesboro and headed to the Baseball Field in Charlottesville.
9:03PM – Larry, (without speeding) arrived at the field and a previously arranged team of interns from the Tom Sox organization (along with Larry’s 8 & 10 year-old daughters) began passing out the posters to fans.
By 9:30PM fans were approaching and avidly asking for additional copies of the posters.  They were a great hit!

McClung was, and remains, excited to help organizations like the Tom Sox (or your organization) deliver fun, real-time, graphic and digital experiences to fans, customers or members.  Hope you enjoyed this fun story!

Not only did it turn out as a fun experience for the fans, but everyone involved from the Tom Sox Board, to the McClung Employees had a real blast making it happen!
